Training on their bikes encourages me to push my limits and try things I might not have considered doing on my own bike. That’s huge.
Another thing that sets the academy apart is the exceptional instructors. Not only are they world-class riders, but they possess a unique talent for teaching. Just because someone is a great rider doesn’t mean they also have the gift of instruction. These instructors do. Their ability to impart confidence, knowledge, and technique is a gift.
The facility in Greer, South Carolina, is an experience. From the moment you pull into the driveway, to the 5-star cafeteria, to getting on the motorcycle of your choice from their armada of motorcycles, you ride around what I can only describe as motorcycle Utopia. Whoops, rocks, dirt hills, rock hills, grassy hills, water crossings, deep gravel, sand, technical riding through the forests, they have it all.
Confidence is the biggest inhibitor in most riders’ abilities. Yes, there are technical skills as well. But confidence is step one. I can only learn the technical skills to ride through that rock garden if I have the confidence to even try it. Riding on their bikes is a fantastic start along that path of confidence. But it is their instructors that complete that circuit and instill that confidence. It makes you want to step out of your comfort zone and do it. Next thing you know, you’re on the other side of that rock garden or sand pit, and boom, that confidence that once seemed so elusive just moments ago is now in your possession, and you’re ready for step two, the technical skills to mastery.”

“I would like to take a minute to share my thoughts on my recent visit to the BMW Academy. We had signed up for the two-day off-road GS training. Everything about that weekend was spectacular. The facilities are amazing. The treatment from BMW Motorrad is top notch. The coaches are patient, knowledgeable, and very personable. There is flexibility with the Motorcycles that are provided was huge. My wife, who started on a G310, was upgraded to the R1250. Overall, it was an outstanding event. My wife and I had so much fun and learned so much. I would highly recommend it”
